State, Federal, and other local environmental regulatory agencies have many requirements for facilities to follow in order to achieve compliance with wastewater management. The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Programs are designed to minimize pollution of local waters and to maintain high quality water. There are also local PDES programs that may apply to your facility. These programs could involve your facility complying with various permitting, monitoring, and reporting requirements. Facilities may also be required to have additional plans in place, including a USEPA Slug Control and/or USEPA Toxic Management Plan to address emergency or accidental discharges to the wastewater system.
